This is an excellent location for visiting students at Northeastern University. It is only 2 blocks from campus. The room was way nicer than the photos on their website. They were also very accommodating in allowing us to stay extra nights during hurricane Sandy. My biggest surprise was how quiet the rooms were. I never heard one other guest during my week long visit. Felt very secure during the storm. I would definitely stay here again primarily because of the close proximity to NEU.

Only 2 negatives. You cannot control the room temperature yourself. It is all central heating that must be done by hotel staff in their basement. The stairway to our room was incredibly steep and narrow. I was traveling with my elderly mother who has great difficulty navigating any stairs. Because we checked in after hours and the hotel was sold out, I knew there was no chance in relocating. These stairs were a challenge during the week stay. Steep stairs should probably be mentioned on their website.

Location outstanding, near my conference and great neighborhood for sights and walking and shopping. Apartment very comfortable.

Did not anticipate a third floor walk-up without elevator, which was a little challenging with young children but for our short stay was not too bad.

The bedroom was quiet and really spacious with a walk-in wardrobe and cable TV. The bed was clean and very comfortable with nice, firm pillows. It was great to be able to open the windows to let in fresh air. Food shopping and eateries were a short walk away and open till late. The fridge was huge in the apartment if you wanted to store lots of perishables. The Boston Symphony Hall was at the corner near Symphony subway, so you could catch the light rail to downtown venues. I was worried at first about the location, but it turned out to be okay, when I knew how to work the subway and the taxis. The hotel is reasonably priced, 2-3 star accommodation compared to the over priced 4-5 star accommodation in Boston.

The gas stove seemed to be leaking because the smell of gas was very strong throughout the apartment. I would have suffocated had I not been able to open the windows. The cleaner must have been able to smell it but did nothing about it. I was unable to ring the main office about it because I was out all day when they were available. There was nothing with which to light the stove to boil a pot of water to make a cup of tea (as there was no electric jug). There was no blanket on the bed and one was not left anywhere in case I got cold. You shouldn't have to ask. The soap was cheap and nasty. It felt like plastic. Fortunately, I had brought my own. The bathroom had not been cleaned properly and I lost my ring down the plug hole while cleaning the basin and could not retrieve it. The other dubious thing about these apartments is that you think you are booking to stay at The Copley House but when you get there they take you to another location. They really should show the other locations on a map so that guests realize this when they are booking so they can let tour operators know where to collect from etc.

    The residential location

There are multiple locations and there is no guarantee that with multiple couples that you will get a room at the same location.

very well located, in a nice area. People working at the Copley house are usefula and nice, from the cleaning ladies to the manager!

the size and the charm of the rooms are variable. We were 3 couples, and everyone had a different style..Unfortunately, we had the smallest, and the simplest one.

We liked it's location in a nice neighborhood

Very old, run down, no heat control, we were cold most of the time. The entry has not been updated for at least 50 years. No housekeeping. The front desk was not always staffed

It had a cottage like feel to the place. It made you feel like you were in a no worry atmosphere.

The location to the subway system was great. Also close to supermarket and a hopping centre for anything needed.

When we arrived were told we have upgraded. Basement apartment - had not been renovated. Was too hot - could not control heat. Was given choice to move - we did. The new room had been renovated and was much more pleasant with furnishings-felt cheated with 'upgrade' on first arrival.

The independence of the rooms. They are apartments.

Low internet conection (like dial-up), and no solution of the personal in charge. You book for the 239 Newton Street, and they send you to differents places to stay, that are houses, no hotels. The reception is on the main biuilding, the rest didnt have it.

    Location

Hotel maintenance during my staying: unacceptable. No elevator.

We liked having kitchen facilities and a place to gather with our family, even for a dinner night when it was raining outside. The bed was pretty comfortable.

The stairs up to the top floor with our heavy bags, and trying to get around all of the housekeeping bags when trying to leave.

People are so nice. The queen bed is comfortable. The bathroom is clean.

Cell phone signal was not good since we stayed in a basement room.

  • Couple

This was not really hotel. This was like sub-lease. They served enough tools to live (not only just stay). I liked this poind because I could feel like I'm really living there, not just stay.

I saw a mouse came from a hole. I also found the trap for mouse. I guess there are a lot of mice. I didn't care but if someone doesn't like mice, need to concider this point.

Very well situated within Boston, although when booking we did not realise that we would not be staying at West Newton St.

No heating controls in the room. The weather turned cold during our stay and the room was very draughty and cold. There was heating in the room but we had no means of putting it on.
